Daybreak Photography...a general term I use for early morning photography. The rising sun is spectacular and always different depending on cloud cover. Sometimes, non- visible at all if it is overcast. Though I love photographing the event, My real passion is for the early morning light before sunrise. Starting off almost dark, slowly turning blue and then the colours slowly warming as the sky turns red, orange or yellow dependant on atmospheric conditions. That is my favourite time of day. I feel so alive as I stand there with my camera.

My early morning wanderings around my home town see me usually graduate towards the coast line. I am very lucky living in a coastal town with two bays to choose from without even leaving the urban area. If I go further afield...the bay locations multiply many times over.
This shot was taken from the Esplanade Gardens that are situated behind the Spa buildings in Scarborough's south bay.

Some of the best and most accessible sunrises on the East coast of Yorkshire are in the winter months. If the weather turns cold under a high pressure zone, the air is usually clear and visibility is wonderful. The other advantage is the late hour of sunrise...No need to get out of bed early because the sun rises after 8 am.

June 21st 2015. Up out of bed at 3am and down to Scarborough's south bay to capture the dawn breaking on the longest day of the year....I spent the rest of the day like a zombie from lack of sleep...But it was worth it.
